Math Playground

Math Playground is a very fun and engaging website that I have found that uses the Internet to teach math. This website has fun games that help students to have fun while they learn. There is a variety of categories such as word problems, how to use manipulative's and common core math. This website is not only a great resource for teachers and students but parents as well.  With games and specific tasks this website will work as a great reward to students or a great option during centers.

Get to Know Me

Hello there,
My name is Malika El-saadiq and I am currently a student at Eastern Kentucky University. I am a senior and I am majoring in Elementary Education. I am currently in Methods and I have just began Practicum. I am very pleased with my education that I have received and I hope that I can benefit my students with a proper education in the future. I am very excited that I will be student teaching next semester. I hope to teach in Kentucky after I graduate and give the gift of knowledge. I truly believe that all students have the ability to learn. It is up to the teacher to make sure that this happens and that the student is successful. I hope to make a difference in a positive way and truly make a impact. I hope you enjoy my blog!

Using Technology to Teach Math

This Article really touched on Blooms Taxonomy  and the hierarchy of students learning which is very important to consider when teaching. In the Classroom the SMART board is very handy when teaching math and this blog even suggests the game "Splat" for this. This teacher also suggests that students should complete a Math problem when first walking in the door before beginning any lesson. The SMART notebook and computer are very beneficial in the classroom because it allows the student to think outside the box. It puts a halt to worksheets which are so often used and it gives the teacher more variety in the classroom. I will most definitely use a smart board and computers in my classroom during centers.
